In Memoriam of First Lady Wanda Doris "Bay" Woodard Floyd

​

On June 26, 1963 God graciously blessed Earnestine an Eddie Woodard, Jr. of Cedar Lake, Texas with a beautiful daughter who they named Wanda Doris.

​

Wanda grew up in the Cedar Lake community where she was baptized at an early age at the Bethlehem Christian Church by the late Rev. Lloyd Brown. Wanda loved the life and work of the church, serving as an usher as a youth in the Bethlehem Christian Church. A favorite pastime for Wanda as a youth growing up in Cedar Lake was being a member of the mighty Cedar Lake Lakerettes softball team.

Wanda attend public school in Van Vleck graduating from Van Vleck High School in 1981. She was a strong student who excelled academically and athletically. Wanda has a warm personality and during her educational experience in Van Vleck she built many lifelong friendships.

Wanda married the love of her life the Rev. Andrew H. Floyd. God blessed this union with three wonderful children: Darren Deshon, Natasha Andrell, and Andrea Darice. Wanda was a deeply supportive wife and a very compassionate, loving mother. She held to her strong convictions for upright living coupled with unwavering faith in God. Through every challenge of her life she maintained her conviction that "God Knows Best".

Wanda and her husband, the Rev. A. H. Floyd, enjoyed a prosperous effective Gospel ministry service to our Lord for nearly 25 years. On July 22, 1990, she rejoiced as God launched her husband into the Gospel ministry and together they set sail on a journey of lifetime service unto God as he preached his first sermon at the Bethlehem Christian Church in Cedar Lake, Texas under the leadership of Pastor K. W. Bree. On September 18, 1993 she joyfully supported her husband in the work of our Lord as he began his tenure as pastor of the First Sacred Memorial Christian Church in Bay City, Texas. On April 26, 1998, under guidance of God's Holy Spirit she and her husband organized the New Fellowship Tabernacle Church, First Lady Wanda Floyd faithfully served as Executive Administrator effectively managing all legal and financial matters pertaining to the congregation. Through the tireless united efforts of spiritual oversight and leadership of First Lady Wanda Floyd and her husband, Pastor A. H. Floyd, New Fellowship Tabernacle Church rose from small beginnings to achieve great success in service to God including gaining a significant membership and to amass property valuing over one million dollars.

First Lady Wanda Floyd was an excellent first lady offering spiritual guidance and encouragement to all. She was a devout supporter of the youth always challenging each young person to greater achievement and spiritual development. She valued the total ministry of the church and worked tirelessly for the advancement of the cause of Christ. Her greatest strength undoubtedly was the unwavering support she gave her husband providing unseen by many but nevertheless sound stability to the Gospel ministry service unto our God. She will affectionately be remembered as a great woman of God who remained faithful for her entire life journey in spite of tremendous personal health challenges. She refused to ever allow her physical condition to deter her spiritual service. She was indeed a classic First Lady.
